With more than 20 years’ experience, Grove Group has established itself as a leader in modular and relocatable building solutions. As the largest privately owned supplier of temporary buildings to Australia’s construction sector, Grove has built a strong and expanding presence within the education market.
Demand has accelerated under Victoria’s Relocatable Building Program (RBP), with schools increasingly adopting permanent modular construction to deliver high-quality facilities quickly and efficiently. Modular education has evolved from basic portable classrooms into sophisticated two- and three-storey learning environments requiring robust, repeatable structural systems.
To meet this demand, Grove relies on dependable, high-performance materials. STRUCTAply™ Flooring plays a central role in delivering that consistency at scale.
Modular education buildings require:
Grove delivers modular buildings 75–95% faster than traditional on-site construction methods, making reliability essential at every stage.
As Dave Burn, Group Procurement Officer at Grove Group notes:
“We are using approximately one thousand sheets of STRUCTAply™ Flooring each month to provide strong and stable floors for our modular and relocatable buildings.”

STRUCTAply™ Flooring is a tongue-and-groove structural plywood panel manufactured using cross-laminated veneers. This construction method delivers excellent span capacity, strength and durability compared to many alternative flooring substrates of similar thickness.
Available in multiple thicknesses, STRUCTAply™ Flooring features:
Plywood is also resource-efficient, producing more usable sheets from less timber. Its dimensional stability and consistent quality make it ideally suited to modular manufacturing processes where repeatability and efficiency are critical.
As Burn simply puts it:
“We get no complaints from the team on the floor.”Structural stability without additional metal framing

STRUCTAply™ Flooring is manufactured at Porta’s Myrtleford facility in Victoria using FSC® certified, sustainably grown plantation Radiata Pine.
Local production ensures compliance with “Local Content” and “Supporting the Regions” requirements, key considerations for government and Tier 1 construction projects, some of which require up to 96% local content.
Porta’s Myrtleford mill has supported the regional community for more than 50 years, employing over 200 people. Logs used in production are grown and harvested locally, reducing transport impacts and strengthening domestic supply chains.
STRUCTAply™ Flooring is carbon negative, even when accounting for manufacturing and transport emissions. Efficient production, long service life and reduced carbon miles compared to imported alternatives reinforce its environmental performance.
Through consistent performance and reliable supply, STRUCTAply™ Flooring enables Grove Group to meet growing demand for modular education facilities across Victoria.
The result is:
STRUCTAply™ Flooring demonstrates how structural performance, manufacturing efficiency and responsible sourcing combine to support the future of modular education infrastructure.
