Technical Features

Mixed Hardwoods readily accepts paints, stains, finishes and polishes well. It can be bonded with wood suitable adhesive and/or screwed, and nailed. Our mixed hardwoods Durability Class 3 timber, and are suitable for construction of window/door frames, mouldings & cladding with appropriate coating protection. Porta's core moulding range is Porta Select Grade, which features very few marks and natural characteristics, making it a stronger, cleaner and more versatile timber.

Visual Features

The colour of mixed hardwoods includes blush and peach tones to light reddish/brown. Natural variations in grain, colour and texture are considered a feature of the species and this is not recognised as a defect. The Porta range uses Mixed Hardwood is offered as per AS 2796.2 - 2006.

Workability

Mixed hardwoods are strong and stable timbers, and easy to work. They plane, sand, finish it and glues well. This also makes Mixed hardwoods ideal for internal joinery applications, furniture and toys. This timber is suitable for wet areas with appropriate oil-based undercoating protection.

Applications

Mixed hardwood is suitable for a wide range of internal applications including furniture, mouldings, decorative trim, cabinetry, flooring, windows & doors, internal joinery (architraves & skirting) and toys.
