With basic DIY skills and materials readily available from your local hardware store, you can create and customise the ‘Fairfield’ timber bundle stool. This DIY industrial chic stool, or side table, would look right at home on polished concrete or against an exposed red brick interior.
This project was developed by Nuud Studio as a guide. Use it as inspiration to help you create your own unique design.
This project is made from assorted mouldings – including dowel, picture rail, quad and panel mouldings. Available in a range of lengths, a 1.2m piece of moulding can be cut into three equal lengths of ~400mm. When bundled together, these form the perfect height for a stool.
Adjust the height of the stool by changing the length of the mouldings. Change the width by bundling mouldings of different sizes and quantity together. You can also mix and match the moulding profiles and timber species to create a bundle of different grains and colours.
Make up a jig to cut each moulding to the same length and remember to sand each piece for a smooth finish.
The Porta timber products featured in this project are available from all major timber and hardware stores. Find your nearest stockist.
